When my kids decorate gingerbread houses, they are some of the ugliest you will ever see. They are so ugly in fact, that I couldn't bring myself to buy them this year. It kils me not to be able to help them. I have to leave the house or I'll end up taking over the decorating duties.
I had some very good help, one beautiful 5 year old and a very good instructor named Auntie.
